Day 2

Everything has been a happy blur the last few days. I submitted my papers to the school department on Monday, and was approved Tuesday!

I know it's early, but I already see a change in her. She is HAPPY.

Diva's last day of 'old school' was Tuesday. I know people have said to take a few weeks off before starting to home-school, but we decided to start the ball rolling. We're covering the basics right now, adjusting to the 'at home'.

On the first day we read "Don't Give Up Kids", a story about a boy and his new friends who have learning differences. While we were reading it, I knew it was her story. When we finished, she said "That sounds like me Momma, I'm smart, I just need to learn different." I wanted to cry - I was so proud!

Wednesday we did a math review to see where about she is. She has some ups and downs but was smiling ear to ear today when she 'got' that 2x3= 2 groups of 3. The rods have definitely come in handy.

She's GETTING it!

  1. I'm very interested in following the progress of your daughter. I come from a family of LOTS of teachers...my grandmother has taught for over 50 years. I have a cousin who is a special education teacher that works with kids just like yours. We have had many discussions about homeschooling kids with special learning needs. I'm more apt to follow the home-schooling route, she is more apt to say that the kids need qualified interventions and socialization. She also believes that 90% of kid's problems can be solved by their parents behaviors. So, since you are a parent that has decided to take responsibilty over your child's learning needs, I can't wait to see you succeed. Please keep us updated! how is she handling the adjustments so far?
